Produced in May 2016

Perfume bottle in Aritayaki

Product Development and OEM

Guerlain and Arita Porcelain Lab pool their expertise to mark 400 years of the celebrated Japanese porcelain and pay tribute to one of Guerlain’s legendary fragrances: Mitsouko. Arita Porcelain Lab has reinterpreted Guerlain’s iconic “inverted heart” bottle in porcelain, drawing on unique traditional Japanese know-how handed down over centuries. It is adorned with the delicate Kyokujitsu design – an allegorical scene representing the rising sun. The sun’s golden rays are inlaid with traditional Aritayaki motifs. Designed by Yazaemon the 7th, it was created one by one by handwork of skilled artisans.

Press conference was held on 17th February 2016 at Anderz Tokyo to announce the launch in Japan from 1 May 2016 in limited quantity, then in France and Hong Kong.
Special menus were served in Arita Porcelain Lab dinnerware, with the presence of Mr. Thierry Wasser, the 5th generation in-house perfumer. The press dinner started with the toast by Mr. Thierry Wasser and Yazaemon the 7th gave a speech about how the MITSOUKO Aritayaki special bottle was created.

Special diner was held at the restaurant Le 68 Guy Martin in La Maison Guerlain, the flagship store of Guerlain in the Avenue Champs-Elysées on 5th December 2016. Exhibition ARITA x GUERLAIN with 60 Arita porcelain pieces selected by Guerlain was held from 17 November 2016 till 7 January 2017.
