10月23日（土）から11月7日（日）、幻ともいわれる明治伊万里を復刻展示した「麗しの明治伊万里」展がニューヨークの紀伊国屋書店で開催されました。
期間中、西宮在米大使ご夫妻もご来場されました。
NY紀伊国屋書店のフラー店長と順を追ってご案内ご説明させて頂きましたが、大使は「紀伊国屋書店のイベントスペースが見事な展示会場になった！」と驚かれてました。奥様は有田焼には大変興味をお持ちで、佐賀有田にも行かれたことがあるそうですが、「明治伊万里」の名前ははじめて聞かれたようで、江戸時代の古伊万里との違いを、時代が生んだ勢いとスピード感にあるとご説明したところ、デザインの斬新さにとても関心を持たれたようです。ビデオもじっくりご覧になり、当社の工房の規模などにもについてもご質問いただきました。
本当に、多くの方にご来場頂き、感謝しております。ありがとうございました。
今後も、海外の方に有田焼きの歴史や日本の美と伝統工芸の「現在」を、広く伝えていきたいと思っています。
